Renewable Energy Potential in AlbertaWith the government of Alberta providing extensive support for development of new renewable energy sources, Energy Revolution Services prepared a pilot study of wind, solar and hydropower potential. The study aimed to provide an initial indication of the energy potential, and to review various assessment techniques.
This pilot study provided a starting point for numerous Independent Power Producers (IPPs) whom Energy Revolution Services have subsequently assisted with identification of renewable energy project sites. Click here to download the report. |
Tasmania Clean Energy OpportunitiesAn op-ed written by Michael Pullinger, in response to a power shortage crisis in his home state in Australia. Originally published in The Mercury newspaper.
WHENEVER I meet new people in my adopted home of Canada, I relish the chance to steer conversation from a famous marsupial carnivore to describing how Tasmania’s wilderness truly sets it apart. Being an island is a blessing and a curse for Tasmania. The recent perfect storm and unprecedented crisis in Tasmania’s electricity sector provides a clear example. Read More... |
Pumped Storage Hydropower - Hydraulic TransientsPumped storage hydropower is one of the cheapest and most widely adopted methods to store large amounts of energy on the electrical grid. This will be critical as more intermittent renewable energy such as wind and solar is integrated into our electrical system.
Michael Pullinger completed his Masters Thesis through Murdoch University, and assessed the impact of hydraulic transients (waterhammer) for a 1334 MW pumped-storage facility with four reversible pump-turbines. Download the thesis here. |
